Reverse DNS is another name for a PTR record.
Reverse DNS takes an IP address and converts it to a hostname.
To put in an RDNS Request with Sago
When requesting rDNS (PTR records) entries, please specify the hostname you wish to add to DNS. Please note that you should ensure that the requested hostname has a matching A record (forward DNS) before submitting a PTR request. This requirement is for a number of reasons, the most important of which is to protect you and your domain name(s) from fraud, as well as compliance with a number of Internet standards (RFCs).
Example 1
Request:
"Please create a PTR record for www.sagonet.com"
Result:
www.sagonet.com is a CNAME for sagonet.com, not an A record. Request rejected.
Example 2
Request:
"Please create a PTR record for nazgul.sagonet.com"
Result:
nazgul.sagonet.com has address (A record) 66.118.128.5. PTR record created.
Example 3
Request:
"Please create a PTR record for example.sagonet.com"
Result:
Host example.sagonet.com not found: 3(NXDOMAIN). Request rejected.
1.2.3.4 -> foo.example.com
This is also acceptable.
